Motorsportmugs Blog
We thought writing a bit of a blog in to who we are what we do and how Motorsportmugs came about.First off as it's our first blog you will get to know I'm not the best at English there will be spelling mistakes and total lack of punctuation etc and would be classed as dyslexic so bear with me .
So where did the love of rallying start , my first memory of the sport would be Kirkby Lonsdale motor clubs January rally in the early 80s I spent the very snowy night in the back of the closing car that my mum was driving. I remember looking out of my sleeping bag to see a wide arched Lime green mk1 escort on its side in a ditch. Other memories of that time a devils in the mid 80's sat watching headlights flicking the night sky around killington and possibly the last Colman tyres not being allowed to go as I had a wobbly tooth so spent all day trying to pull it out... which worked and I got to go!!
Dad would take me on various stage events and primary school would allow us to watch the cars coming out of grizedale on the rac I can remember mum driving round the roundabout at j36 with me in the back mixing it with delta S4s 6r4s. During the late 80s and 90s dad was doing internationals and got to go on a few including the hunsruck
In the mid 90s I navigated for both parents on various club 12 cars then in 96 I navigated for dad in his 309 on the oaks stages at flookbourgh we broke it!!
At this point I realised navigating was not for me!! 1998 saw me enter my first road rally the Harry and ivy in my boy racer mk2 Astra 4 6x9s and all 17th overall
I had a Barron few years after that then in 99 the old man had a 'big one' on mull this resulted in me working a lot of hours and saving some money I purchased a Renault Clio off a customer and converted it in to a road rally car first event was the Eastwood trophy rally which is were the bug bit, we did most Northern events during 00-02
Whilst competing I managed to save up for a 205 stage car which was purchased in 02 first event mull.we did various events between 02-05
Then finances dried up the 205 need a reshell and then it slowly became a 'barn' find of the future and I stoped competing apart from the odd 12 car.
i then started to get back in to taking photos and attended many northern events until 2010 when Motorsportmugs was launched that will be in part 2
